Obituary for James Henry House

James Henry House, age 83, a resident of Oak Harbor, passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2020 at his home surrounded by loved ones. James was born August 22, 1936 in Allen, Louisiana.

James grew up in Elizabeth, Louisiana. He joined the United States navy in 1955 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer 1st Class from the Navy in 1977. James received the Navy Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Fifth Good Conduct Award. James had a master’s degree in Business, and he worked at Boeing for over 20 years prior to retiring. James was also very active in his community and was proud to be the first African American president of the Oak Harbor Lions Club. James served in the Oak Harbor Lions Club for over 30 years.

James is preceded in death by his mother Marie Richards, his father Henry House, his brothers Wayne Curtis and Barney Curtis, and his sisters Anchenette Womac and Lois Robinson. James is survived by his wife Sara House, mother-in-law Minnie Ray, Children Olan House (Virginia), Isaiah House (Tanisha), Debra House, Tramika Petrello (Tim), Caniece Perez (Joey), Dedrick Johnson and Tim Johnson. Grandchildren Russell Petrello, Roddrick Murphy (Loren), Olivia House, Shaniya Murphy, Julian Perez, Octavia House, Anthony Perez (Blanca), Jalen Perez, Jessica Petrello, Kianna Johnson, Jaden Petrello and Neveah Johnson.

James was our rock. He was the type of person who loved big, shared his wisdom, and inspired all. James was a devoted Christian who enjoyed fishing and crabbing. His pride and joy were spending time with his family and having cook outs.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Wallin Funeral Home 1811 NE 16th Avenue, Oak Harbor, WA 98277. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at11 a.m. at Wallin Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 1:00 at Maple Leaf Cemetery 1961 NE 16th Avenue, Oak Harbor, WA 98277. A potluck reception will follow at Wallin Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2020.
