Obituary

Steven Lynn “Steve” Goforth was born on December 11th, 1948. The second child of Patsy Honeywell Goforth and Carlis Goforth. He was born in Cushing, Oklahoma and passed away at home in Anacortes on March 14th, 2020, at the age of 71. He attended Billings public schools and graduated from Billings High School in 1968. He was the class reporter, on student council, FFA, 4-H, Band President, Tri-State Band, Football King, Track & Field, Annual Art Director, Newspaper Art Director, and recognized as an All-Conference Defensive Guard in Football. He attended Oklahoma State University for a short time where he was a member of the cowboy marching band before he was drafted in the Navy in 1970. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1990 where he ended his career as a Chief Petty Officer.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Vicki Leah (Bellmon) Goforth; sons: Steven Edward Goforth (Amber) of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Kevin Matthew Goforth (Melissa) of Anacortes, Washington; brother, Carl E. (Carol) Goforth; sister, Brenda Lieber; and his grandchildren: Mykenzie Doss and Jerrah Goforth, both of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Dayden Goforth, Kisen Goforth, Bayze Goforth, Elliott Goforth, and Nash Goforth of Anacortes, Washington; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Steve was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend to everyone.

Steve always enjoyed sports, especially watching them in his later years. After 20 years in the Navy, Steve worked for Noble county road maintenance for 10 years, then he worked at Rush Metals in Billings, Oklahoma for 10 years. He was a Scout Master for Billings Boy Scouts for many years. After having health issues, he went to visit the Northwest to see family and stayed. He enjoyed sightseeing, camping, watching sports, looking for used treasures, bird watching, and watching ships pass by. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial service will be held in Oklahoma in April; date and time are to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steve's name to Oklahoma State University Foundation for Scholarships.

Vicki and family,
I will always remember Steve as welcoming, friendly and fun to be around. I know you will miss him very much and wish I could have been in Oak Harbor to offer a big hug and condolences in person. Have strength, Vicki, and may your faith support you during this difficult time. I have this quote by Barbara Kingsolver attached to my computer and read it every day. "You don't think you'll live past it and you don't really. The person you were is gone, but the half of you that's alive wakes up one day and takes over again." Keep Steve's memory alive in your heart.
In Friendship-Martha Wallin
