Obituary

On Friday, May 8, 2020, David Andrew Heathers, entered eternal life at age 38 in Oak Harbor, WA. David joined Jr ROTC while attending Burlington-Edison High School and was immediately drawn to the structure of the military. Upon graduation in 2000, David enlisted and proudly became an US Marine who served his country in Iraq.

To know David, was to know unwavering love. He asked how you were doing and took the time to truly listen. His gentle spirit was constant not just for his friends but for anyone who needed help. Humbly offering all he had to others in silence, never wanting credit.

David was known to be a dog whisperer. If there was a dog present, it was next to (or more likely on) David. A sweet smile graced his face as he showered them with love and allowed wet kisses.

A highlight in his life was a road trip to Spring Training in Arizona, to experience his shared passion for the Seattle Mariners with his father, Steve and road dog Maverick. Whether catching a game in person, on television or radio, the M’s were a constant throughout his life.

David’s spirit is carried on by his parents (Steve & Kay Heathers), sisters (Hilary Aragon & Erin Heathers), brother-in-law (Juan Aragon), nephews (Sam, Ben & Mateo Aragon), faithful companion (Maverick), and an extended family of friends from every walk of life.

To the Heathers family, I am so sorry for your loss. David was a wonderful person and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. I remember him as a sweet, kind and quiet guy, wearing his Mariners gear in our classes at Bay View and always smiling.

I was at a total loss when I heard that David had passed. We spent a lot of time together when we were in grade school, from sports (first grade soccer!), to walking home from school together. He was always great company. I remember as a seventh and eighth grade class, he would help us distract the teacher with discussions of the Mariners- they were both fans and we knew it would get us several minutes of freedom from lecture. I know, we were silly kids :)
It has been years since I talked to him last and I am deeply saddened that there will not be another opportunity. Hugs to everyone

To Steve, Kay, Hillary, Erin and all the knew David, I am incredibly saddened to hear of David's passing. Although David and I had not seen each other in many years, he was one of my closest friends growing up in the Skagit Valley. From hitting the slopes at Stevens Pass or enjoying many Mariners games during the summer, I am grateful to have known David and to have called him my friend. I was incredibly proud of David following his dream of being a U.S. Marine and serving his country abroad. To David, although we haven't seen each other in years, I know that our paths will cross again on the other side. Rest in peace my friend.

So sorry about the loss of your son David. We met up with David & Maverick and Steve at that Spring Training game. David's knowledge about the Mariners was so impressive. Hearing about David's going-ons over the years, we know how close your family is. David is not forgotten.
Love, Dan & Becky Peck
